HOUSE OF PRAYER IN THE CITY is an extension of the ministry of the Episcopal House of Prayer in Collegeville, Minnesota.  A Quiet Place Apart In the Midst of the Noise and Haste.  Located next to St. Mark’s Cathedral in downtown Minneapolis, The House of Prayer in the City, 425 Oak Grove Street, offers a variety of programs and classes.

The House of Prayer in the City is an extension of the ministries of the House of Prayer in Collegeville into the Twin Cities. In discernment the Board of the House of Prayer saw the need for ongoing spiritual work, which would be more consistent and personal. Retreat work presented challenges that needed to be addressed by more regular contact with those who needed further teaching and practice. This work in Minneapolis allows the leadership to offer weekly classes and Contemplative Practices, as well as day retreats, liturgies and a variety of offerings, which have included Yoga and Feldenkreis work, as well as an office and a place for individual counseling, when needed. This effort continues to be experimental and evolving as we seek to reach out to a broader audience, meeting the spiritual challenges of our society.

We welcome your comments and suggestions and encourage you to pass the word to others to whom these programs might be appealing.

Cultivating Contentment

July 31, 20010 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.   $30 donation includes lunch

This contemplative day retreat will center on cultivating contentment as God's peace.  Peace that is always with us though we often fail to know it.   We will practice returning to the infinite upwelling of Spirit within us, discovering together that God is here now, complete and whole.

This will be a silent retreat, with lunch provided.   We will offer short teachings, contemplative sittings, a discussion and a walk if weather allows.

All levels of experience with contemplative practice welcome  - the atmosphere will be one of encouragement and support as well as challenging.

Led by teachers Marty Lahn and Ward Bauman.
Ongoing offerings require no advance registration.
